This can be depicted in simple words: “teaching aids are educational tools used by teachers to make the class more interesting”. Teaching aids are like a lifeline for the education system.

যেহেতু সভ্যতার অবনমনে মানুষ প্রকৃতির দ্বারা পুষ্ট হয়। অবশ্যই প্রকৃতি মানবজাতির শ্রেষ্ঠ শিক্ষক। ক্রমাগত সময়ের পর্বে পরিবার হচ্ছে প্রাচীন স্বতন্ত্র প্রতিষ্ঠান। এ কারণেই প্রকৃতির সাহায্যে জ্ঞান অর্জনের জন্য পরিবারই হল সেরা মূল পারফরমার। এখন কথায় আসি, শিক্ষণীয় উপকরণ কি? এটিকে সহজ কথায় চিত্রিত করা যেতে পারে: “শিক্ষণ সহায়ক হল শিক্ষামূলক সরঞ্জাম যা শিক্ষকরা ক্লাসকে আরও আকর্ষণীয় করে তুলতে ব্যবহার করেন”। টিচিং এইডস শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থার জন্য একটি লাইফলাইনের মতো।
ক) ছাত্রদের ক্লাসে সক্রিয় ও অংশগ্রহণমূলক করে তোলা।
খ) শিক্ষার্থীদের বিষয়টির সাথে আরও ভালভাবে সম্পর্কিত হতে সহায়তা করা।
গ) শিক্ষকদের জন্য পাঠদান প্রক্রিয়া সহজতর করা।
ঘ)শিক্ষার্থীদের দীর্ঘ সময়ের জন্য তথ্য ধরে রাখতে।
e) বিষয়বস্তুর প্রতি উপলব্ধি তৈরিতে শিক্ষার্থীদের সুবিধার্থে।
